Nutmeg Grove
Michele Righetti
Inspired by the vibrant colours and uniqueness of the nutmeg seed,
with its bright auburn hues and striated patterns, Italian-born artist
Michele Righetti hand forged stainless steel sheets and painted
these with layers of car paint to achieve this bright eye-catching
metallic sculpture.
A contemporary interpretation of a nutmeg seed magnified many
times from its original size, this cutting-edge sculptural installation
was commissioned by Orchard Central to celebrate its heritage and
history of Orchard Road which derived its name from the nutmeg,
pepper and fruit orchards that used to lie on either side of the
street in the 1840s.
